To efficiently process cash deposits and pay out cash against authorised cash withdrawal slips within the prescribed limits and record transactions for future reference to ensure effective and accurate cash control in accordance with Society policy and procedures.

Requirements
  • To receive cash and cheque deposits from customers and process transactions to ensure the clients’ accounts are credited with the correct amounts to avoid losses.
  • To receive withdrawal vouchers/slips from customers, scrutinise them for completeness and ensure that the vouchers are properly authorised and pay out cash to customers while ensuring that correct amounts are paid to rightful customers to avoid losses.
  • To capture all daily transactions on the system and ensure that supervisors have signed and authorised each voucher posted.
  • To verify cash transactions daily to make sure they balance, to ensure misposts, underpayments or overpayments are identified and to ensure that there are no differences in the teller’s till and the vault.
  • To reconcile the cash register and to ensure it balances with General Ledger.
  • To physically secure keys, notes, coins, cash paid/received vouchers and cashier’s stamps at all times.
  • To provide first-line contact with customers and explain products offered by the Society and procedures.
  • To attend to customers’ complaints and queries and resolve their problems satisfactorily.
  • To record all customer complaints in the Customer Feedback Register and later submit the register to the Supervisor.
  • To prepare cashiers’ returns and complete banking slips for cheques received over the counter.
  • To prepare returns for stop orders and salaries processed.
  • To accurately account for petty cash and ensure that petty cash vouchers are properly authorised before disbursing cash to staff members.
  • To raise payments according to invoice value and ensure reimbursement cheques tally with the checked Branch reimbursement.
  • To maintain a proper filing system for customer records, including stationery for the Branch.
  • To perform any other duties as assigned by the Operations Officer from time to time.
