    Senior Safety Officer - Contractor Management
    In charge of over 40 Barrick Lumwana Contractors with operations such as;
    - Copper mining, Mineral explorations, Mineral processing, Drilling & blasting, Oil and gas, Transport, Maintenance, Industrial equipment suppliers, service providers etc.
    HSE Operations areas;
    • Facilitate OHS contractor management, on-boarding process and compliance
    • Managing communication and coordination between Barrick and Contractors
    • Creating safety dashboards for monthly and annually safety statistics and KPIs for all contractors
    • Review of Contractors’ Baseline Risk Assessment in line with ISO 45001 Standard
    • Ensure that workplace inspections, Planned task observations and Safety Leadership Interactions are risk based and conducted by Contractor Site managers.

    • Ensure that Contractors have completed detailed FLRA and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) specific to the contracted work and has detailed in their EHS Management Plan the controls specific to the means and methods that they are executing to complete the contracted work.
    • Establish and Implement safety performance standards and expectations for contractors in managing critical risks associated with; Lifting and Cranage, confined spaces, energy isolation, electrical works, mobile equipment, working at heights and drilling and blasting.
    • Evaluate the Contractor’s management team to ensure that adequate supervision is being provided and that they are actively involved in the OHS process on an ongoing basis.
    • Validate that the Contractor has workers who are competent and conducted the site required inductions & training for their workers prior to starting work.
    • Ensure that there is timely and effective reporting, investigation, and review of all incidents pursuant to LMC’s Incident Investigation and Reporting Standard.
    • Provide understanding of the importance of safety and wellbeing of communities where contractors operate from
    • Facilitating for kick-off meetings prior to commencement of works.

    • Provide supervision to crews / staff and create an effective open communication line with HSE department, clients and regional contractors on all matters of health and safety in order to adhere to compliance with safe working procedures.
    • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure full compliance with company policy and current legislation recommending improvements where deficiencies have been discovered. Compile data and produce detailed reports on the findings to Senior Management.
