Lusaka city airport – Runway upgrade under the Lusaka L400 – Lot 1 phase 3

The project involved the ripping off of the old existing bituminous runway, extending of the runway width, building up of pavement layers and asphalt surfacing and the construction of apron and tax ways

Responsibilities includes:
• Monitoring clearing and grubbing.
• Monitoring the construction of the layer works starting from roadbed level to asphalt level.
• Carrying out the field density tests on all layer works.
• Sampling of material for MDD, CBR, UCS tests.
• Checking slump cone test of freshly mixed concrete to determine workability and water/cement ratio
• Checking cube test or compressive test to determine the strength of cured concrete cubes
• Maintaining a day-to-day record of the activities taking place on site.
• Handling request for the engineer’s approval.

Materials investigations for the output and performance-based road contract (OPRC, asset management contract) for design, rehabilitation/improvement, routine and periodic maintenance works of package 1 central province in mkushi

• taking measurement for the engineers approval

• soil constants determination (LL,PL & PI)
• maximum dry densities (MDD) determination
• California bearing ratio (CBR) determination
• Unconfined compressive strength (ucs) determination
• Determination of insitu CBR using the dynamic cone penetration (DCP)
• Slump cone test of freshly mixed concrete to determine workability and water/cement ratio
• Cube test or compressive test to determine the strength of cured concrete cubes
