A renowned Five Star Hotel in Lusaka is looking for a driven Accounts Assistant to join their Finance Team, the Accounts Assistants will contribute to the smooth running of the day-to-day activities of an accounting of the hotel's finance department.

QualificationsACCA Level II/ ZICA or related qualification
SoftwareExcellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with pastel
Knowledge OfAccounting and financial reporting principles and practices, Accounts receivable
Skills ToExcellent organizing abilities; Excellent attention to details
Ability ToManage Multiple Priorities
Other RequirementsExperience in the hospitality industry is desirable
  • Assist with in the processing of balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines.
  • Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded
  • Update accounts receivable and issue invoices. Pro actively follow up an overdue invoices and resolves disputes
  • Update accounts payable and perform reconciliations
  • Prepare account reconciliations (cash, liabilities, receivables, fixed assets) and supporting sub ledgers. Investigate and resolve account reconciling items
  • Update financial data in software to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed.
  • Assist with reviewing of expenses as assigned
  • Assists actively with month end closing
  • Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and work closely with the internal or external auditors to ensure the completion of a timely audit
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures
  • Perform group, credit and individual general ledger reconciliations on monthly basis
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedure
  • Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions, resolving discrepancies
  • Performing ad-hoc duties as and when requested to do so.
