Public Health Specialist/ Physiotherapist/ Researcher

Overall responsibility
Directing physiotherapy services which includes the following;
Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements
Ensuring compliance with current professional documents (i.e. standard practice for physiotherapy and code of ethics)
Evaluation of clinical practice, ensuring that confidentiality is maintained, clinical documentation is audited, clinical audit tools are used to evaluate clinical practice, and audit recommendations are documented.
Preparation of reports on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
Ensuring that all policies and general procedures are available to staff.
Understanding the roles and qualifications of other professionals involved in comprehensive patient/client care/management and practices in collaboration with them to provide high quality services.
Creating communication links between staff, the supervisor/manager of the service and the organisation to optimise the quality of patient/client services provided.
Participates in Human resource development planning and planning for, and allocation of resources in consultation with physiotherapy staff and appropriate administrative personnel.
Participating in Physical activity programmes and conducting health promotion/prevention programmes.

I was responsible for organizing, overseeing the health services and daily activities of Senanga General Hospital. Also responsible for managing human resource, Performance, budgets, communicate between departments and ensure adequate patient care. Other duties were;

Planning and budgeting for the institution.
Transport management at the institution.
Capacity building of all staff (medical and no medical)
Manage Security effectively to safeguard property and life.
Office superintendence to ensure and promote a conducive working environment.
Monitoring and evaluation of all programmes.
Result based financing (RBF) coordinator of all activities at the hospital and reported to Provincial Health Office (PHO) on all the monthly visits that were being reported per quarter.
Government to government (G2G) programme manager.
Hospital liaison officer.
Ensuring quality assurance is being done as per standards.
Ensuring performance activities (PA) are done as per requirement and also working on the recommendations.
Ensuring that the recommendations made after audits are worked on.
Participating in all hospital activities and ensuring that they are done in accordance with the stipulated guidelines.

Main Duties;
Participate in departmental planning
Prepare teaching material and lesson plans that meet the level of study in physiotherapy and course objectives.
Deliver lectures to students taking degree courses in subject taught and counsel students academically so that they can achieve their highest potential.
Prepare examination papers, tests, assignments, and mark students written examination papers in subjects taught.
Conduct experiments and demonstrations as part of instruction of students, supervising students’ practical work to ensure accuracy of work.
Undertake assigned research activities making recommendations on practical methods of applying research results to supervisors.
Participate and contribute to departmental meetings and other meetings assigned.
Participate in curriculum development.
Supervision of student Research.
Participate in quality assurance and weekly reporting.
