    CONTOURGLOBAL/KIVUWATT POWER PLANT RWANDA
    POWER PLANT AND GAS PRODUCTION ENGINEER/SUPERVISOR
    2012-todate (Expatriate); employed and working as a Power Plant and Gas production Operations Shift Engineer/Supervisor at Contourglobal Rwanda dealing in offshore methane gas extraction from Lake Kivu and onshore thermal power generation, reporting directly to Plant Facilities Manager/Plant Director
    Key result areas
    • Ensuring close monitoring of the demands from the dispatcher (REG NCC, Rwanda’s Energy/Utility company); and ensuring that the demands are met in due time.
    • Communicating with dispatcher & ensuring close monitoring of the load demands & achieving times (as per request and contracts with the grid operator)
    • Maintaining operation data log sheet, preparing daily GEF and Power Plant consolidated reports, engine(s) running schedule as per instruction by Plant Facilities Manager and Gas Production Manager.
    • Supervise and monitor planned and unplanned repairs on the barge fleet equipment (including gas treatment system)
    • Monitor and operate all the gas treatment systems.
    • Monitor environmental regulatory issues and keep Barge Manager advised

    • Bringing in inputs and contributing in activities so as to improve the Operating Conditions of the Plant.

    2010-2012 Worked as an Operations Shift Engineer on a 2year contract basis at
    Wartsila Power Plant Namanve Uganda (Jacobsen Uganda ltd) generating
    50MW of thermal power, reporting directly to Operations Manager
    Key result areas.

    2009- 2010 Appointed and worked as an Electrical Maintenance Technician at Airtel/Warid telecom Bugolobi on a 1 year contract basis, reporting to the Electrical Engineer.

    2007-2009 Appointed and worked as a Power Plant Senior Operator at Aggreko International Power Projects Uganda generating 100 MW of thermal power using LFO/Diesel Cummins reciprocating engines, reporting to the Plant Shift Engineer.

    • Handling, repairing and maintenance of 1250 KVA Cummins diesel generators.
    • Carrying out ‘A’ and ‘B’ services.
    • Working as a Control Engineer/Operator for thermal power generation of 50MW; Starting, stopping and synchronising KTA50 1250KVA LFO Generator sets onto the national grid.

    Responsible for Start, Run, Synchronize, Load, shutdown of generators as per instructions of the Shift Charge Engineer
    • Performing routine inspections and equipment maintenance for proper operation and availability. Assist in the start-up, operation and shutdown of mechanical and electrical equipment to meet contract and business plan requirements.
    • Manually operate valves, pumps, dampers, and other equipment as necessary. Perform switching of electrical equipment up to 11kV. Perform operations to place electrical circuits and generating equipment in and out of service.
